Boarding Services

The Big Lick Ferret Shelter & Hospice has a simple boarding service: we only board ferrets and they are are allowed free roam time at no additional fee. We are quite different from dormitory style kennels which hosts mostly dogs and cats in small cages or runs. With our boarding service, each guest at BLFSH is assured a comfortable, personal stay. We are proud that we are a small facility as this allows us to personally interact with your beloved ferret while staying with us.

Play All Day * Rest All Night * Go Home Happy

Big Lick Ferret Shelter guests leave their cages early in the morning and play all day in one of three separate play areas, one of which has a "water park". Endless Exercise, socialization, and interaction. All at a reasonable price.

• Board for single nights or for extended periods.
• Cage-free environment available.
• New ferrets will be individually evaluated and introduced slowly into an appropriate play group. 
• Ferrets return to their cages at night tired, satisfied, and ready to rest well. They sleep great at BLFSH.
• Drop-off seven days a week. Sunday pick-ups available 3 pm to 7:30 pm.
• Each ferret receives hands-on attention and affection.
• Guests are encouraged to bring their favorite bedding, blankets, toys, and food.
• Suites available for families of 3, 4 or more to stay together.
• We administer medications per your Veterinarians instructions* at no extra fee.

Boarding Requirements
All ferrets must be current on rabies & distemper as well as have ADV test results from your Veterinarian.  A contract & "Permission To Treat" form will be provided to you for your signature at the time of check in. 

Also please note that the person picking the ferret(s) up must be the same person that dropped them off, or someone we know as your designated "pick-up person".

* All medications must be in the original container from your Veterinarian and have a current prescription.

Rates (Payment due at check in.)

If the shelter provides the food, the rates are:

• A single ferret is $7.00 per day.
• Each additional ferret is $3.50 per ferret per day.

If you provide the food, the rates are:

• A single ferret is $5.00 per day.
• Each additional ferret is $2.00 per ferret per day.
